Commentary:
This bill contains no criminal provisions but may nonetheless be of significant interest to readers. It would establish a federal commission charged with undertaking “a comprehensive review of all areas of the criminal justice system,” including the individual criminal justice systems of the 50 states. As reported, the bill would call for the commission to make recommendations for changes "designed to prevent, deter, and reduce crime and violence, improve cost-effectiveness, and ensure the interests of justice at every stage of the criminal justice system."
